Everything people ask before they book

If you are renting a dumpster for the first time, you probably have the same dozen questions everyone does: what it costs, what size, whether the City will fine you, and what you cannot throw in. The answers below are the ones we give on the phone every day. If yours is not here, call (910) 672-8396 — a real person in Fayetteville will answer it.

Part 1

Pricing

How much does a dumpster rental cost in Fayetteville, NC?

Typical rentals run $295 to $695, with no hidden fuel or pickup fees. The price depends on the size, the type of debris, the delivery location and any permit, and how long you keep it. You get a flat rate on the phone covering delivery, pickup, the standard rental of up to 7 days and the included weight — 2 to 3 tons on a 10 or 15 yard, 3 to 4 on a 20, 4 to 5 on a 30, 5 to 6 on a 40. Going over costs extra. The cost guide breaks it down.

Is delivery and pickup included in the price?

Yes. Delivery, pickup, the rental period and disposal up to the included weight are all in the one flat price. No fuel surcharges, no hidden fees.

What causes extra charges?

Three things: going over the included weight, keeping the container past the rental window — at a low daily rate — and restricted materials that have to come out of the load. We explain it all on the first call so there is nothing to find later.

Do you charge more for heavy materials like concrete or dirt?

Not a different rate — but concrete, brick, dirt, shingles and tile use up the included weight fast. So we size heavy loads differently (a 10 yard loaded level, or split loads) and tell you where the weight line is before you load.

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit cards, business checks and electronic payments. Payment, or a deposit, may be taken before delivery. Business clients and repeat contractors get invoices by email, and long-term and multi-bin customers get special pricing. Cancel up to 24 hours before delivery for a full refund.

Part 2

Sizing

What size dumpster do I need?

A 10 for a bathroom, a garage or a small load of heavy material, a 15 for a kitchen, flooring or a deck, a 20 for a whole-home cleanout, a roof or a multi-room remodel, a 30 for a full-house renovation or a new build, a 40 for construction and demolition. Weight decides for dense material — see the size guide.

What happens if I order too small?

You need another haul — and too large means paying for unused space. When in doubt, describe the job and let us size it. If your project grows, we can swap the dumpster.

What is the biggest dumpster you offer?

A 40 yard: about 22 ft × 8 ft × 8 ft, roughly 12 pickup loads, 5–6 tons included. It is a job-site container, not a driveway one.

How full can I fill it?

Level with the top edge, no higher. An overfilled dumpster cannot be safely hauled, so even loading matters.

How much does a roof tear-off produce?

It depends on the size of the roof and how many layers are coming off. Repairs and small tear-offs fit a 10, a typical roof a 15 or 20, and large roofs a 30. Shingles are heavy, so tell us the roof size and the layers and we will plan it around the weight.

Part 3

Permits, placement and town rules

Do I need a permit to have a dumpster delivered?

On your own driveway or private property in Fayetteville, we found no City permit for a roll-off. On a City street or sidewalk, yes: the City's Temporary Right-of-Way Encroachment permit, through the Public Services Engineering Division — $75 per 30 days on the FY2025-26 fee schedule, so check the current fee. It is valid for 30 days; after that you apply again. You keep a 4-foot pedestrian path or post ‘Sidewalk Closed’ signs, you are responsible for traffic control, and anything left in the street must be lit at night (City Code Sec. 24-6). On a state-maintained road, NCDOT's written permit applies instead (G.S. 136-93). The permit guide and your town page cover the details.

Can the dumpster go on the street if my driveway won't fit it?

In Fayetteville, with the permit — Traffic Services (910-433-1660) handles encroachment questions. Blocking a sidewalk without a City permit is a Class 3 misdemeanor (Sec. 24-18). Elsewhere it is harder: Raeford's code bans any obstruction in its streets and sidewalks (Sec. 16-1), Hope Mills' code keeps obstructions out of its streets (Sec. 86-4), and outside town limits most roads are state roads, where NCDOT's written permit applies. Tell us when you book and we line the delivery up with it.

Why do some of your town pages say the county licenses haulers?

Because several do. Cumberland County lets only collectors with a county health department permit use its landfill (County Code Sec. 11-41.2); Hoke County licenses residential haulers every year; Robeson County licenses haulers through its Solid Waste Director; Moore County requires a health department permit to haul waste for profit (Sec. 8-160); and Harnett County charges $135 per vehicle per year. In Fayetteville, City Code Sec. 22-13(B) requires the necessary approvals, permits and licenses to haul waste commercially. We are licensed in the towns that require it. We quote the section on each page.

Why do some town pages say the town collects household trash?

Because several do. Hope Mills provides residential collection itself (Sec. 78-14), Spring Lake contracts household trash and recycling to GFL, Stedman picks up bagged trash for in-town residents, and Raeford runs its own collection. Moore and Harnett counties provide no curbside service. A roll-off carries project debris, not weekly trash, and none of those programs takes construction debris from a contractor. We tell you straight on the phone where your job stands.

Does my HOA matter?

It can. Covenants can cover containers on your driveway, and we do not know your HOA's rules — check them before you book.

Will the dumpster damage my driveway?

Ask for boards under the dumpster and the driver puts them down. Tell us before delivery if a surface needs more than that — and keep it off soft ground.

How much space does the truck need?

A flat, hard surface, room for the container — about 12 feet long for a 10 yard, about 22 feet for a 20 and up, and 8 feet wide — a straight run for the truck to back in, and clear space overhead. Power lines, tree branches, parked cars and bins are the usual problem.

Part 4

Booking and delivery

How do I book a dumpster?

Call (910) 672-8396. Tell us the address, what is going in and roughly how much, and we quote it flat and schedule it on the same call.

How fast can you deliver?

Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability. Call before noon for the best chance of same-day; the edges of our area are more often next day.

What are your hours?

24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Storm requests go to the same number.

How long can I keep the dumpster?

The standard rental is up to 7 days. Call or text and we extend it at a low daily rate. Some rules set their own clock: Fayetteville's right-of-way permit is good for 30 days, then you apply and pay again; Hope Mills wants construction and demolition debris removed within ten days of the work finishing (Sec. 78-3), and Spring Lake the same for building debris (Sec. 40-81). Your HOA may have its own limit.

Do I need to be home for delivery or pickup?

No. Agree the spot with us, keep it clear of vehicles and obstacles, and the driver sets it down. Same for pickup — and please do not move the container once it is placed; call us if it needs moving.

Can I book multiple dumpsters at once?

Yes. Several dumpsters at once, staggered deliveries and scheduled rotations are routine for contractors and property managers.

Part 5

Service area

What towns do you serve?

Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake, Stedman, Eastover, Wade, Falcon, Godwin, Linden and Vander in Cumberland County; Raeford in Hoke County; Parkton in Robeson County; Cameron in Moore County; Autryville in Sampson County; and Bunnlevel in Harnett County — each with its own page. The complete Fayetteville guide pulls it together.

Where is Quick Roll Dumpsters based?

At 555 S Cool Spring St, Fayetteville, NC 28301.

Is service different in the far towns?

Mostly the timing. Raeford, Bunnlevel and Cameron are 23 to 33 road miles from the yard and more often next day than same-day. Price depends partly on the delivery location, and we say any difference up front.

Do some towns restrict who can deliver a roll-off?

Yes — Cumberland, Hoke, Robeson, Moore and Harnett counties each license or permit haulers, Raeford reserves the commercial collection it provides to the City, and Harnett's landfills take Harnett waste only. Fayetteville, Hope Mills, Spring Lake and Raeford have rules on what can sit in a street. Each town page says what that town's code says, and we tell you where your job stands when you call.

Part 6

What we take

What can I put in a dumpster?

Household junk and furniture, mattresses, wood, drywall, flooring, cabinets, siding, roofing shingles, metal, cardboard and packaging, yard waste in its own load, and concrete, brick, asphalt or dirt loaded level within the weight limit.

What can't go in a dumpster?

North Carolina bans used oil, yard trash, white goods, antifreeze, aluminum cans, whole tires, lead-acid batteries, oil filters, recyclable plastic bottles, computer equipment and televisions from its landfills (G.S. 130A-309.10(f)), and lithium-ion batteries from December 1, 2026. Construction and demolition landfills also refuse liquids, hazardous waste, household garbage and yard trash, and drums, tanks and cans unless they are empty and punctured. We also keep out paint, solvents and chemicals, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste and asbestos. The what can and cannot go in guide says where each of those goes instead.

Can asbestos-containing material go in a dumpster?

No. North Carolina wants notice at least 10 working days before demolishing a commercial building or an apartment building of more than four units, even if no asbestos is found, and a state permit to remove more than 160 square feet, 260 linear feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos material. Homeowners renovating their own house do not have to test, though the state recommends it. Asbestos goes to the Ann Street Landfill by appointment only (910-321-6928), sealed, with a shipment record and a $100-per-load handling fee. It never goes in a roll-off.

Can I put concrete, brick or dirt in a regular dumpster?

In a 10 or 15 yard, yes — heavy materials have strict weight limits for safe transport. Heaped in a 20 or 30 it is more than the truck can safely haul. That is why so many patio and driveway jobs end up with a 10, loaded level, kept separate from household junk. Clean concrete, brick, block and rock count as inert debris in North Carolina, as long as there is no adhesive, sealant or lead paint on it.

Can I put a mattress or an old appliance in?

Mattresses, yes. Appliances, no — fridges, freezers, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters and window units are white goods, banned from North Carolina landfills. Cumberland County takes them at the Ann Street white goods area or any county container site, fridges and freezers emptied with the doors off. TVs and computers are banned from landfills too. Our junk removal crew can take them to the right place.

What happens to the debris after pickup?

It goes to a permitted facility, not a random dump — usually Cumberland County's Ann Street Landfill for household and construction debris, with clean brick, block, dirt and rock in its inert area. Yard waste and clean wood go to the county's Wilkes Road compost facility, and metal, concrete and cardboard are separated and recycled whenever possible.
