If you have never rented a dumpster, this is the page to read first. It covers the whole process from the phone call to the pickup, with the Fayetteville, Cumberland County and North Carolina specifics that national guides leave out.

Whether you are renovating a home, cleaning out a garage, running a construction job or clearing storm debris, a roll-off puts all the debris in one place instead of trip after trip to the landfill. The payoff is a faster cleanup, a safer site and a rental period that fits your schedule. Remodels in particular make more debris than people expect — drywall, cabinets, flooring and fixtures do not fit in a curbside cart — and roof tear-offs, estate cleanouts, landscaping and demolition all fill a box quicker than a trailer.
You call or fill out the quote form, tell us about the job and the address, and pick a size with our help. You get a flat-rate quote that covers delivery, pickup and disposal within the weight limit, for a standard 7-day rental. We deliver — often the same day — to your driveway, a job site, a commercial property or a lot. You fill it at your own pace, keeping debris level with or below the top rim, and call or text when you are done; we schedule pickup as early as the next day. You do not need to be home, as long as the path is clear. Our yard is at 555 S Cool Spring St, on the same street as the Cool Spring Tavern, one of the landmarks the City lists in the Downtown Historic District, so most of Fayetteville is a short run.
Start with the job, then check the weight. A 10 yard, about 12 feet long, suits small home projects, bathroom remodels, garage cleanouts and yard debris. A 15, about 14 feet, suits garage cleanouts, minor renovations and flooring removal. The 20, 30 and 40 share a footprint of about 22 feet and get taller: the 20 for kitchen remodels, roofing jobs and large cleanouts — our most popular size; the 30 for full-home renovations, construction debris and demolition; the 40 for commercial projects, large-scale construction and estate cleanouts. Typical weight limits run from about 2–3 tons on a 10 to 5–6 tons on a 40. The sizing guide has the full table.
The City of Fayetteville runs curbside service, but it is built for household trash. Crews collect up to five bulky items free; six or more are paid and scheduled. Large limbs up to 5 feet long and 6 inches across go free in piles up to 10 cubic yards. Owners and renters can book Household Construction Debris pickup a week ahead, priced by the load — $50, $100 or $357 on the FY2025–26 schedule — but the City does not collect debris generated by a contractor, does not collect yard waste or large limbs a contractor produced, and does not clear vacant lots. City Code Sec. 22-25 makes removing construction and demolition debris the property owner's responsibility, and leaving it is an unlawful condition subject to abatement.
Outside the city, Cumberland County's container sites are for homeowners only and do not take construction or demolition waste, furniture or mattresses. That is why a roll-off is the normal answer for a remodel, a roof, a move-out or a construction site around Fayetteville.
On your own driveway we found no City permit for a roll-off. On a city street or sidewalk, the City requires a Temporary Right-of-Way Encroachment permit through the Public Services Engineering Division, valid for 30 days; the FY2025–26 fee schedule listed $75 per 30 days for construction dumpsters, so check the current fee. The permit wants a 4-foot cleared path for pedestrians or "SIDEWALK CLOSED" signs, and City Code Sec. 24-6 wants anything left in the street at night "protected by lights." On a state road, G.S. 136-93 calls for a written NCDOT permit instead. City Code Sec. 17-11 keeps container loading and unloading near homes out of the evening and early-morning hours. The container needs a flat, stable surface, and we put boards under the wheels on request. The permit guide covers the towns around us too.
North Carolina's asbestos program is run by the NC DHHS Health Hazards Control Unit (HHCU), which covers Cumberland, Hoke and Harnett counties. For a demolition of a commercial building, an apartment building of more than four units, or a house torn down as part of a commercial or public project, the building must be inspected and a notice must reach HHCU at least 10 working days before work starts — "even if no asbestos was identified." Removing more than 160 square feet, 260 linear feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos material needs an HHCU removal permit. Homeowners renovating their own house can do it without testing or a permit, though HHCU recommends an inspection anyway. NC DEQ also requires demolition contractors to take out mercury-containing lights and thermostats before a building comes down. Asbestos never goes in a standard roll-off. The renovation guide goes through it step by step.
Most Fayetteville loads go to Cumberland County's Ann Street Landfill at 698 Ann St, the county's permitted landfill for household trash, construction and demolition debris, bulky items and inert material, at $46 a ton for mixed trash or construction debris. Yard waste, land-clearing debris and clean wood go to the County's Wilkes Road facility at 771 Wilkes Rd. Every load must be tarped or closed in. To use the county landfill at all, a hauler needs a Cumberland County health department collector's permit — we hold ours. Loads from the towns over the county line go to their own county's facilities, such as the Hoke County Transfer Station in Raeford, Harnett County's landfills, which take Harnett County waste only, or the Robeson County Landfill in St. Pauls. Whenever possible, yard waste is kept apart so it can be composted rather than landfilled.
Fayetteville is the Cumberland County seat — 208,501 people at the 2020 Census and an estimated 209,120 in 2025 — and the rules change once you leave it. Hope Mills and Spring Lake both give owners ten days after the work is done to remove building debris; Raeford bans obstructions in its streets, so the box goes on the driveway; Stedman picks up bagged trash only; Eastover sends planning and inspections to the County. Fort Bragg, which has carried that name again since February 2025, is next door, and I-295 — the 39-mile Fayetteville Outer Loop, fully open since November 2025 — puts most of the county within easy reach. Each place has its own page — see the service area.
In: household junk and furniture, wood, drywall, flooring, siding and cabinets, roofing shingles, yard waste in its own load, metal and cardboard, and concrete, brick or asphalt in limited loads. Out, by North Carolina law: used oil, appliances (white goods), antifreeze, whole tires, lead-acid batteries, oil filters, computer equipment and TVs — and from December 1, 2026, lithium-ion batteries. Out of our boxes as well: paint, solvents and automotive fluids, propane tanks and fuel containers, asbestos, hazardous chemicals and medical waste. The full guide says where each goes instead.
Load flat items first — plywood, drywall, cardboard — to make a base, break down bulky pieces, and spread the weight evenly from front to back rather than piling heavy debris in one corner. Keep everything below the rim — an overfilled dumpster cannot be safely transported. Keep the path clear for pickup. Need more time? Call or text before the pickup date and we extend at a small daily rate, or swap a full box mid-project.
To book, call (910) 672-8396, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Have the address, the material and a rough quantity ready, and call before noon for the best chance of same-day delivery.
