Construction Dumpster Rental across Cumberland County and the Sandhills

A job site does not make one kind of waste. Demolition comes out heavy — concrete, block, brick, tile — then framing and drywall come out light and bulky, then the finish phase is packaging and offcuts. We size each phase on its own: a 10 loaded level for the heavy stuff, a 30 or 40 for the bulk, and a swap schedule so the crew never waits on a full box. Small remodels and roofing tear-offs take a 10 or 15, framing and drywall a 20, new home builds a 30, and major construction or demolition a 40.

In North Carolina the sorting matters. Clean concrete, brick, block, asphalt and rock are inert debris and go to a cheaper part of the landfill than mixed construction waste; yard waste cannot go to a construction and demolition landfill at all; and mercury thermostats and fluorescent tubes must come out before a demolition. A clean, separated load and a box sized for the weight both keep the job on budget. The Fayetteville permit guide covers the street paperwork.

At a glance

What you get with construction dumpster rental

  • Containers sized by job phase — heavy demo, framing, finish
  • Scheduled swap-outs and bin rotations so the site never waits on a full box
  • 10 yard containers for concrete, brick and dirt loaded level
  • 30 and 40 yard containers for bulky framing and demolition debris
  • Concrete, asphalt, metal and clean wood recycled whenever possible
  • Priority service, special pricing and monthly invoicing for contractors with ongoing accounts

Demolition, framing, roofing and finish

Demolition debris is where the weight is. Concrete, block, brick, asphalt and tile go in 10 yards loaded level, because a 30 heaped with rubble is more than the truck can safely haul and more than any allowance covers. Framing and drywall go in 20s and 30s. Shingle roofs go in a 10, 15 or 20 depending on the size of the roof and the layers coming off — clean shingles are cheaper to dispose of than shingles mixed with other debris.

Asbestos is a state matter. North Carolina's Health Hazards Control Unit requires notice at least 10 working days before demolishing a commercial or industrial building, an apartment building of more than four units, or a house taken down as part of a commercial or public project — even if no asbestos is found — and a state permit to remove more than 160 square feet, 260 linear feet or 35 cubic feet of regulated asbestos material. Homeowners renovating their own house are not required to test, but the state recommends an inspection. Asbestos never goes in a roll-off. We will ask what the building is before we quote a demo job.

Job-site placement and the City of Fayetteville

On a private lot we place where the driver can reach it and the crew can load it. If the container has to sit in a City street or on a sidewalk, you need the City's Temporary Right-of-Way Encroachment permit — $75 per 30 days on the FY2025-26 fee schedule (check the current fee) — and the form makes you responsible for traffic control, a 4-foot pedestrian path or ‘Sidewalk Closed’ signs, and calling the City's Construction Management Division (910-433-1798) when the work starts and ends. City Code Sec. 17-11 bans loading and unloading containers within 50 yards of homes between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. on weekdays and 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. on weekends and holidays, so we time drops and swaps around it. The property owner is responsible for removing construction and demolition debris (Sec. 22-25), and dumping building materials illegally costs $500 plus the City's removal costs (Sec. 22-16).

Construction dumpster rental — the local specifics

Several towns put construction debris in writing. Hope Mills wants all construction and demolition debris removed by the property owner within ten days of the work finishing (Sec. 78-3), and Spring Lake says the same for refuse, lumber and debris from building work (Sec. 40-81). Fayetteville makes the property owner responsible for removing it (Sec. 22-25), and the City does not collect debris a contractor made, nor yard waste or limbs a contractor cut (Sec. 22-10). Raeford's City collection takes no building materials or contractor refuse, and tree waste cut by a landscaper or contractor is theirs to dispose of (Secs. 9-4, 9-6). Hoke County puts it on builders to make containers available on site (ordinance Sec. 24). Every town page quotes the section.

Answers

Construction Dumpster Rental — your questions answered

Do you do swap-outs?

Yes. We pull the full container and drop an empty. Most multi-week jobs set up ongoing swaps at the start, and contractors with several sites can pre-book pickups and swaps.

Can I mix concrete with other debris?

You can, but it costs you. Concrete fills the weight allowance long before the box looks full, so we usually run a 10 for rubble alongside a bigger box for the rest. Clean concrete, brick and block with no rebar go to the landfill's inert area at $18 a ton, against $46 a ton for mixed construction debris at Ann Street.

Can you deliver to a site with no address yet?

Yes — give us the nearest cross streets and a site contact, and we will coordinate placement with your site supervisor before the truck goes out.

Do I need a permit for a container on a Fayetteville job site?

Not for the container on your own lot, as far as the City's published code and permit pages say. You need the City's Temporary Right-of-Way Encroachment permit if the box will sit in a City street or on a sidewalk, NCDOT's written permit on a state-maintained road, and the state's 10-working-day demolition notice for commercial and multi-unit buildings. We flag it when you book.

Which towns restrict construction haulers?

Cumberland County lets only permitted collectors use its landfill, Robeson and Hoke license haulers, Moore requires a health department permit and Harnett charges $135 per vehicle per year — we are licensed in the towns that require it. Each town page says what that town's code says, and we tell you straight when you call.

Construction Dumpster Rental across Cumberland County and the Sandhills

We run roll-off containers out of the Cool Spring Street yard to every town below. Fayetteville and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more often next-day. Several counties license or permit the haulers that work there, and some towns keep containers out of the street — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
