Approx. 13 road miles from the yard, around 24 minutes.

Spring Lake is approx. 13 road miles north-north-west of the yard, around 24 minutes via NC 210 and NC 24/87 — often the same day. It is a town of 11,660 at the 2020 Census, in Cumberland County.

GFL collects household trash and recycling for the Town. Remodels, roofs and big cleanouts are another matter — Town code makes the property owner clear building debris, and that is roll-off work.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Spring Lake

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • A town since 1951 — Spring Lake "became a Town on April 9, 1951."
  • Main Street's old road — by the Town's fun facts, Main Street grew out of the Old Plank Road, until the Bragg Boulevard bypass was built in 1942.
  • GFL on household trash — "Household waste and recyclables are collected by GFL."
  • Spring Lake Recreation and Senior Center — on the Town's recreation and parks pages.
  • Paint and chemicals — Cumberland County's household hazardous waste center says Spring Lake residents cannot use it, so ask the Town where they go. They never go in the container.

What comes out of Spring Lake properties

Kitchens, baths and roofs in 15s and 20s, cleanouts in 15s and 20s, and a 10 for concrete and brick. One thing to know: Harnett County's Anderson Creek Landfill has a Spring Lake mailing address, but it is a Harnett County landfill that takes Harnett County waste only. North Carolina's landfill bans apply: no tires, batteries, used oil, appliances or electronics in the container.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Spring Lake

Who may haul: Sec. 40-77(a) needs permission from the Town's water and wastewater resources director to haul garbage on Town rights-of-way — and the code defines garbage as putrescible waste such as food waste, not building debris. We found no exclusive roll-off franchise. Haulers using the County landfill need a Cumberland County health department collector's permit — we hold ours.

The 10-day rule — the rule that matters: Sec. 40-81 says refuse, lumber and debris from repairing or putting up a building "shall be removed by the property owner within ten days after the completion of the work."

Placement: the Town's permits page lists building, demolition, zoning and special-event permits but no dumpster or right-of-way permit, and Sec. 34-49 bars piling rubbish, lumber or any other obstruction on a sidewalk. We found no Town permit for a driveway drop — it normally needs none, and our crew confirms the spot with you. A state-maintained road needs NCDOT's written permit (G.S. 136-93).

Knocking something down: the Town issues demolition permits — get yours before anything comes down. For commercial buildings and apartment buildings of more than four units, the state also needs a demolition notice 10 working days ahead, even if no asbestos is found.

Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Spring Lake

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask your location, what you are clearing, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No long forms, no guesswork.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, the standard rental of up to 7 days, pickup, disposal and a stated weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site exactly where you asked, with boards under it if you want them. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top edge and keep the banned items out — tires, car batteries, used oil, antifreeze, paint, chemicals, propane tanks, TVs and computers, and appliances such as fridges, washers and water heaters. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call or text and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load goes to a permitted facility such as Cumberland County's Ann Street Landfill, with metal, concrete, cardboard and clean green waste recycled whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Spring Lake — common questions

Is Spring Lake same-day?

Often, yes — about 24 minutes from the yard. Call (910) 672-8396 early and ask.

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Spring Lake?

Not that we found for a driveway. The Town lists no dumpster permit, and its code keeps sidewalks clear, so the container goes on your property.

How long do I have to clear building debris?

Ten days after the work is finished, under Town code Sec. 40-81.

Can I take debris to Anderson Creek Landfill?

Not from Spring Lake. It has a Spring Lake address, but it is a Harnett County landfill that takes Harnett County waste only.

Every town we cover

We run roll-off containers out of the Cool Spring Street yard to every town below. Fayetteville and the closest towns are often same-day; the edges of the area are more often next-day. Several counties license or permit the haulers that work there, and some towns keep containers out of the street — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
